Getting Started with Chat GPT
Creating an Account
To start using Chat GPT, you'll need to create an account on the OpenAI website (https://openai.com). Click the "Sign Up" button in the top right corner and follow the prompts to create your account. You'll need to provide an email address and create a password.
Accessing Chat GPT
Once your account is set up, navigate to the Chat GPT interface at https://chat.openai.com/. You'll be prompted to log in with the account you just created.
After logging in, you'll see the main Chat GPT interface. It consists of a conversation window where you can type prompts to Chat GPT and view its responses. At the bottom is a text input field where you enter your prompts, and a "Send" button to submit them.
Choosing a Chat GPT Version
Chat GPT currently comes in two versions:
GPT-3.5 is the default and is well-suited for most everyday tasks
GPT-4 is more advanced but has usage limits. It excels at analysis and complex queries.
You can select the version you want to use from the dropdown menu at the top of the chat window.
Managing Conversations
Each chat with GPT is contained within its own conversation view. You can start a new conversation by clicking the "New chat" button at the top left.
Chat GPT has a limited memory, so very long conversations may get cut off, with earlier messages no longer being factored into GPT's responses. If you need to refer back to earlier parts of a long conversation, you can save the content elsewhere and paste relevant excerpts into a new chat.
